PERFORMANCE SHOWCASE
The Performance Showcase is an opportunity for dancers to perform their routines in a friendly, supportive and non-competitive environment. Each performance will be critiqued by (3) Fusion Faculty members and recognition will be given to several performances. However, the performances are NOT socred. The Performance Showcase will be helds on Friday (and Saturday if needed to accommodate all registered routines).
Each registered dancer my register up to (3) solos.
Dancers must be registered for the convention in order to participate in the Performance Showcase.
Registration for the Performance Showcase is on a first come, first serve basis. Once maximum capacity is reached, we will no longer accept routine registrations.
Independent dancers may participate with Fusion : Next Level.
All routines must be family friendly.
Teachers may no coach dancers during the performance.
The following items may NOT be used in routines: liquid, glass, fire, live animals, confetti, glitter and powder.
Props may not be taller than 8' tall.
Changes to any routine must be made during the tentative schedule phase.
Music must be uploaded to your DCG account (1) week prior the the event date. Backup music must be available on an USB drive. No electronic devices acccepted for backup music.
Critiques will be made available the Tuesday after the event weekend via the DCG account.
IMPROVISATIONAL CHALLENGE
The Improvisational Challenge (IC) is to provide dancers the opportunity to test their skills in front of dance faculty and receive live commentary back on their performance.
The IC will be open to Petite, Junior, Teen and Senior age divisions.
A dancer must be registered for the Convention in order to participate with the IC.
Each dancer will appear on stage and given a different song to improv to. Each dancer will be provided 6 seconds of music prior to beginning their improvisation which will last up to 45 seconds.
At the end of the individual improvisation, each age group will reappear on stage and improv as a group to a second/different song, being given 6 seconds initially to hear the music prior to improving.
Per age division, up to the top 4 improvers will be provided a scholarship.
There must be a minimum of (2) improvers registered for the IC to occur.
GENERAL INFORMATION
ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE
Friday open classes will begin late in the afternoon. However, if we receive a large number of or Performance Showcase routines, the Performance Showcase may begin as early as 12pm on Friday.
The closing show will generally begin around 12:45pm on Sunday. We advise planning for the event to end around 3:00pm on Sunday.
THINGS TO REMEMBER
Convention attendees are not required to participate in the Performance Showcase. If you choose to participate in the Performance Showcase, you must be registered for the full Convention.
Dancers may register either with a studio or as an independent. When registering, type "independent" when asked to provide a studio name.
Wristbands must be worn during all classes and cannot be transferred.
Mini & Petite age divisions have Saturday classes only. They are invited to participate in the Performance Showcase and attend open classes on Friday evening.
Observers may NOT be studio owners, teachers or dancers and are only eligible to register with participating dancers. Observers are not permitted to observe Teacher Classes, Rehearsals or Scholarship Auditions. Observers do not need to register and Observer bands can only be purchased at the event.
The host hotel has a limited number of rooms available. It is strongly recommended if the host hotel is your preference to book early.
